Conte To Provide Competition To Lukaku With This Liverpool Striker

Conte Provide Competition To Lukaku

Romelu Lukaku has been in superb form for Inter Milan, with 15 goals in 17 appearances this season, but boss Antonio Conte is keen to strengthen their back-up striking options.

Former Manchester United forward Alexis Sanchez has only scored twice this campaign while Lautaro Martinez has been linked with a move away and cast doubt over his long-term future in late October.

According to Corriere Dello Sport, Inter view Liverpool striker Divock Origi as an excellent back-up option to provide cover and competition for Lukaku.

Having his international team-mate Lukaku at the club would also help grease the wheels of a move to the San Siro.

Origi, 25, is however contracted at Anfield until 2024 and could well be a part of Jurgen Klopp’s long-term plans.

The Reds have discussed a potential swap deal between Origi and centre-back Ozan Kabak with Bundesliga side Schalke to help solve their defensive injury woes.

Conte’s side are currently locked in a tight title race, lying one point and one place behind city rivals and league leaders AC Milan in Serie A.
