Hakim Ziyech 'could be fit' for Man City clash: Frank Lampard

Ziyech has been out through a hamstring injury since early December and Lampard has revealed that the Moroccan could feature against the Citizens on Sunday.

Ziyech was instrumental to Chelsea surge in form earlier in the season before he was struck with a hamstring.

"Not a coincidence. We can't rely completely on him. He was very effective of us in terms of creation and goals," Frank Lampard told the post-Aston Villa presser of Chelsea's slump in form after Hakim Ziyech's injury in early December.

"It helped, we were very fluid until he got injured. We want him back. There's a possibility he could be fit for Manchester City if it goes ahead. He's close."

The Moroccan picked up a hamstring injury in Chelsea's win over Leeds on December 5. The Blues have won only one out of their five Premier League games since then.

Lampard's men are now set to host City on Sunday but the upcoming encounter has been put in doubt after the Citizens' match with Everton on Monday was called off due to an increasing number of Covid-19 cases in Pep Guardiola's side.
