Jordi Cruyff distances himself from Barca presidency race after Font announces him as pick for sporting director position

Cruyff says that he's committed to his current club. Font said during the presentation that Jordi would join Barca only after his contract at Shenzhen expires.

"I want to clarify that I am focused on my commitment to Shenzhen FC and I am not involved in the electoral process for the Barca presidency," Jordi Cruyff has tweeted.

Earlier, presidential candidate Victor Font announced during the presentation of his sporting project that he plans to make Jordi Cruyff the sporting director if he wins the election. He would work together with Xavi, who'd have the position of general manager.

Font also specified that the La Masia graduate wouldn't join the club right away. Instead, he'd first see his contract at Shenzhen through.

Que T'hi Jugues reports that Cruyff's message is due to contractual reasons and it was agreed before the presentation as he has a contract with another club. Besides, he has to first wait for the election to happen.
