Lampard slams Chelsea players after Wolves loss

Wolves claimed a huge 2-1 victory over Chelsea at Molineux on Tuesday.

After a dull first-half in the Black Country, Olivier Giroud broke the deadlock after 50 minutes out of nowhere.

The in-form striker conjured an excellent first-time strike from Ben Chilwell's cross, hitting the ball with such power that Rui Patricio had no chance of keeping it out of the net.

16 minutes later and Wolves found their equaliser through Daniel Podence.

The lively Portuguese forward picked up Thiago Silva's headed clearance, cut in on his right foot and fired past Edouard Mendy in the Chelsea goal.

Wolves thought they had a penalty with ten minutes remaining with Pedro Neto was caught by Reece James, only for replays to Neto had clearly dived.

With the possibility of going top of the table with a win, Chelsea pushed for a second goal as time was running out.

But Frank Lampard's side would be punished for that decision as the ever-threatening Wolves counter-attack packed the final punch through Neto.

Ben Chilwell's cross went across the edge of the Wolves area, and two passes and a shot later, Neto had won the game from Nuno's side in the 95th minute.

After seeing the game slip through his team's fingers, Blues boss Frank Lampard was cut a disgruntled figure when speaking after the game.

"At 1-0 we should see the game out," Lampard said. "If you're not playing that well, which we weren't tonight, hang on to 1-0. Control the game. Don't allow counter-attacks. And we did.

"Performance. Performance is what gives you results, and we had a long run of good performances but maybe the lads think we're playing well, and when you think you're playing well this is what happens."
