Man Utd Set To Exercise An Option On Jesse Lingard Contract

Man Utd Jesse Lingard Contract

Jesse Lingard has fallen out of favour at Manchester United and is in the final 12 months of his deal.

But the midfielder may see his contract extended as he considers a move away from Old Trafford

The 27-year-old has less than 12 months to run on his current deal but United are set to exercise an option which keeps him on their books for a further year.

It means they will be able to recoup a fee rather than see the player walk away for nothing, reports The Star.

A switch abroad has been touted while Scottish duo Celtic and Rangers have both been credited with interest.

Lingard’s only outings this term have come in the EFL Cup when United’s main men have been rested.

The United academy graduate initially got off to a flying start when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over but has tailed off and is now someway down the pecking order.

And with the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba and Donny van de Beek ahead of him it appears unlikely that Lingard will be able to once again establish himself as a regular.
