'The system is not important. The most important thing is the energy and hard work': Barcelona boss Koeman

Koeman claims that you can attack and defend with any system and also reveals that he picks his formation based on the opponent and players he has available.

The Dutchman believes his players are 'capable of doing different things'.

During the press conference ahead of the Eibar clash, Ronald Koeman was asked whether he will deploy a formation with three centre-backs again.

"You can talk a lot about a system, but I think that the most important thing is the energy and the hard work of the players," the coach answered.

"Any system, I think, could be used to attack but another system could be used to defend, so it depends on the attitude of the team. And regarding the system, it depends on the players you have and the moment of the match.

"It also depends on who we are playing against, and I think that my players are capable of doing different things."

Barcelona surprisingly played with a 3-5-2 formation in the away match against Real Valladolid, and actually did a decent job. Considering how bad the Catalans have been in defence this term, it should be no surprise that Koeman picked a more defensive approach.
