Aubameyang Ruled Out Southampton Clash

Arsenal will be without their captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for Tuesday’s Premier League clash with Southampton at St. Mary’s.

According to the Gunners, Aubameyang is unavailable due to personal reasons and has returned home “to support his loved ones”.

Arsenal are due to face the Saints three days on from losing 1-0 to Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side in the FA Cup.

The Gabonese was not involved at the weekend but had been included in the matchday squad before Aubameyang pulled out to deal with a family matter.

Manager Mikel Arteta was asked how they’d cope without their captain.

“Of course it will be a problem because he is a top striker, one who scores goals and he is our captain, a really important player in the team,” he said.

“But we have to respect the timings, let’s see – I don’t have enough information to see how things are evolving and hopefully things will go in the right direction.”

The Gunners have won four of their last five league matches and have a chance to move into the top half of the table with a win.
