Gremio Men's Under 16s Beat Brazil Women's National Team 6-0 In Intergender Match

Gremio's Under 16 side beat the Brazil women's national team 6-0 on Tuesday morning. the intergender match took place at Vila Ventura Ecoresort, Viamão, and was arranged to give the Selecao side some preparation for the upcoming Olympic football tournament in Tokyo.

There were two 30-minute periods and despite six-time FIFA best women's player and World Cup record goalscorer Marta featuring, it was the youngsters who emerged victorious through goals from Daniel (2), Nathan, Lucas Canigia and Hiago, as per reports.

 "When we play in front of big teams, which are very fast, we will have this type of challenge.

"The game was also important for us to evaluate the players individually, we had some situations of one against one, protection of the ball, and how to react quickly in these situations. It is a good way to improve and be ready for the great challenges of 2021."

According to the official Gremio website, the Gremista girls (women's side) will play against the Brazil women's national team in another training game on 18 January.

In 2017, FC Dallas' Under 15 side hit headlines after they beat the US Women's national team 5-2 in a friendly fixture.

Last year, a groundbreaking move in the Netherlands saw 19-year old female player Ellen Fokkema allowed to play for a senior men's side.

VV Foarut, who Fokkema has been with since the age of five, play in the fourth tier and were granted permission from the KNVB to carry out the experiment.

 Mixed football has been in place in Netherlands since 1986, with women able to play with men until the age of 19 - or in a category B men's team once they pass that age.
