'It's important for the immediate future': Koeman keeps calling for January signings

The coach says he wants to strengthen some of the positions as soon as possible.

Yet he admits that the club's delicate situation could postpone any new arrivals until summer.

"For the immediate future it is important to make signings," Ronald Koeman told the media when asked on the January transfers, as quoted by Diario Sport.

"We want to improve the squad and I still think in some positions we need more competition and effectivity."

The coach concluded: "I think we should sign players but I understand the club's situation. If it's not possible, it's not possible, and we will have to sign in the summer instead."

Barca definitely need a centre-back and a striker with Eric Garcia and Memphis Depay being sounded out.

In any case, Barcelona will have to wait until January 24 when a new president is elected before making any transfers. The club's economic situation doesn't help matters either. It's widely reported that new signings are impossible unless there are sales.
