Klopp provides fitness update on Keita and Matip ahead of United clash

"Joel is close. Does it make sense to throw him in after 1 or 2 sessions he hasn't done yet?" Jurgen Klopp told reporters ahead of Sunday's clash with Man United.

"I don't know. We have to have a look at how he trains. We have solutions. Hendo is important for midfield. Nothing decided yet."

When asked about Naby Keita, Klopp responded: "We just have to put on the brake and settle [the injury] properly. We have alternatives, so we give him all the time he needs."

Without Joel Matip, Liverpool is left with zero senior centre-backs for this crucial game at the top of the table.

Meanwhile, Keita has been out of action since the 7-0 win over Crystal Palace on December 19.
