During his interview with Mundo Deportivo, presidential candidate Joan Laporta revealed that one of the first things he'll do if elected as Barcelona's president is to get into contact with the biggest football authorities.
"I will call the presidents of each of the organizations (FIFA, UEFA, La Liga, RFEF and the Catalan Football Federation) to demand the respect Barcelona deserves as an institution. We have lost that in the past years.
"I'd tell them that Barcelona has a new president, that we want to take an active part in these organizations and be present in the work committees. I think it is important to regain the specific weight that we have lost in recent years in the world of football.''
Since Laporta left Barca, the club's relations with FIFA and UEFA have deteriorated. Neymar's scandalous transfer from Santos to Camp Nou back in 2013 played a huge role, with the Catalans being accused of corruption. Then-president Sandro Rosell had to leave his post.
