Mikel Arteta Officially Confirms Arsenal’s First January Signing

Mikel Arteta has officially confirmed Arsenal new signing of the January transfer window.

“Young talent” Omar Rekik has joined the Gunners from Hertha Berlin, and has already trained with Arsenal’s Under-23s.

Arteta was asked about the highly-rated defender, which went under the radar, in his Thursday press conference, ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Newcastle.

“He’s a young talent we’ve been following for a while that we believe has a right future,” said Arteta of Rekik.

Arteta was also asked to discuss Mesut Ozil’s future, with the German linked with a move to either DC United or Fenerbahce.

The Spaniard said of Ozil: “Obviously now he’s free to negotiate with other clubs. We will discuss internally what’s the best situation for him what’s the best for the near future, with the player and the agent and try to find the best solution for everybody.”
