Rodgers Assessment Of His Players After Impressive Chelsea Win

Rodgers Title contender Leicester

Leicester City Boss Brendan Rodgers declared that it was too early to speak about Leicester as title contenders.

Leicester are leading the Premier League table after a 2-0 win over Chelsea on Monday.

This was an impressive result for Rodgers, but the Northern Irishman stopped short of confirming his team’s title chances.

“It was a very good performance. As a team collectively we were excellent,” Rodgers said.

“Harvey Barnes was sensational, really exciting. Last 15, 20 minutes of the first half, they started getting some combinations, so we changed our defensive shape in the second half and still looked very dangerous in moments.

“I thought we really deserved it. The players have won a lot of games against the big opponents. They showed a lot of maturities. It was a really good, professional performance.”

Pressed about Leicester’s title chances, Rodgers replied: “It is still too early. No-one is jumping through hoops but it shows in the first part of the season consistency has been good and performance levels have been very high.”
