Barcelona players rating in Bilbao win with Umtiti 9, Alba 4

Great collective performances from Blaugrana tonight.

Samuel Umtiti — 9

Another start and another class performance from 'Big Sam'. The Frenchman was aggressive in defence, and barely anyone got past him. Besides, Umtiti's great passing helped the Catalans in possession.

Leo Messi — 8.5

Despite the media noise, Messi has proved that he's a true professional and delivered a great performance against Athletic Bilbao. The Argentine did well to direct Barcelona's attacks, although he did miss a big chance. However, he made up for it with a masterful free-kick.

Frenkie de Jong — 7.5

The Dutchman was the chosen one to replace Sergio Busquets in the pivot role and he did a great job, being solid defensively and surprising the Basques with his impromptu runs. Barca missed his attacking contributions, though.

Oscar Mingueza — 7.5

The youngster had a rollercoaster of a match. In the first half, he was great defensively and did a perfect job to stop Bilbao's biggest threat, Iker Muniain, by playing personally against him. However, he was partly at fault for the conceded goal but he vindicated himself by assisting Antoine Griezmann.

Jordi Alba — 4

The left-back scored the own goal, and although he appealed for a foul, Alba could've done much better in that episode. Overall, Jordi found it hard to defend against Bilbao's physical attackers while his attacking contribution was been underwhelming.
