'I almost choked': Bayern CEO Rummenigge reveals his reaction to Barca €1b debt

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says he learnt about Barca's dire financial situation while having breakfast and nearly choked.

Indeed, the Catalan club has serious problems, owing €1,17b in debts.

"I read about Barcelona's debts while having breakfast and I almost choked," Bayern Munich's CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confessed to Sky Sports Germany.

Sadly, Barca's financial situation is in a rather dire state. Last Monday, the club's accounts were published, revealing the total debts worth €1,173m (€1,17b).

€730m out of this sum are the short-term debts which have to be paid as soon as possible.
