Cech’s Role In Lampard Sack

Frank Lampard and Petr Cech reportedly had a ‘strained’ relationship before the former was sacked as Chelsea boss.

The two Blues legends held different roles at Stamford Bridge with Cech in as technical and performance advisor while Lampard was manager.

Lampard and Cech enjoyed plenty of success while on the pitch together, including winning the Champions League in 2012.

Though it seems that relationship deteriorated according to the Telegraph who claim Lampard left Chelsea with a ‘strained relationship’ with former goalkeeper Cech.

The report adds that Cech was loyal to director Marina Granovskaia, who has a big say in goings on at the Premier League giants.

Lampard was sacked by Roman Abramovich following a run of poor results, with former PSG boss Thomas Tuchel taking the reins at Stamford Bridge.

The 42-year-old said following his dismissal: “When I took on this role I understood the challenges that lay ahead in a difficult time for the football club.

“I am proud of the achievements that we made, and I am proud of the academy players that have made their step into the first team and performed so well. They are the future of the club.

“I am disappointed not to have had the time this season to take the club forward and bring it to the next level.

“I wish the team and the club every success for the future.”
