Real Madrid train with Kroos but without Mendy

Real Madrid's training session on Monday morning saw the return of Toni Kroos, but Ferland Mendy was the notable absentee.

The French left-back is therefore set to miss Tuesday's Champions League semi-final first-leg tie against Chelsea at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano.

Eden Hazard, who impressed in his return off the bench in the 0-0 draw against Real Betis last weekend, was present for the session and could get a longer run-out against his former club.

Dani Carvajal, meanwhile, looks set to continue at right-back after coming through the Betis game unscathed.

Kroos missed the draw against Betis due to some muscular problems, but he has now recovered and is expected to be included in the squad to face Chelsea.

Real Madrid will be without Sergio Ramos, Fede Valverde and Mendy for the match against the Blues, so there could be three youngsters included in the squad in order to make up the numbers, with Castilla duo Antonio Blanco, Miguel Gutierrez and Juvenil A centre-back Victor Rofino all taking part in Monday's session.
