Busquets tears up: I've had a pretty bad time

Sergio Busquets wasn't able to hide his emotions after putting in a man of the match performance as Spain beat Slovakia 5-0 to progress in the European Championship.

Having tested positive for the coronavirus and subsequently missed out on 10 days' training, Busquets was finally able to return to the starting XI and, in Sergio Ramos' absence, take the captain's armband.

"Today has been a rush for everyone," Busquets, teary-eyed, said after the match.

"For us, for the fans...

"I've had a pretty bad time. I spent 10 days at home, I didn't know if I could get back to the squad or not."

Having drawn each of their first two group games, questions were being asked of Luis Enrique's Spain. Busquets believes that the hammering of Slovakia has come at the right time.

"I think it was needed," Busquets said.

"We were switched on from the start and we're strong when we're like this.

"We have kept trying [for goals]. We were lucky with the first, but then it went smoothly. We're confident and hope we can do well."
