Inter preparing offer for Barca left-back Alba after Ashley Young's departure

Inter Milan are preparing an offer to try and sign Barcelona left-back Jordi Alba this summer, according to reports in Spain.

The Serie A giants have lost Ashley Young, who re-joined Aston Villa last week on a free transfer, while Aleksander Kolarov's deal is set to expire at the end of the month.

The Italian side's £250million loan from Oaktree Capital has boosted the finances and prevented the club from financial ruin but they still need to rise a further £87m from player sales and also impose a 20 per cent wage reduction among the first team squad.

That however has not stopped their pursuit of Spain international Alba, with Mundo Deportivo claiming Inter are set to make a bid for the 32-year-old and are willing to involve players in the deal.

The report adds the desire to sign Alba comes just 12 months after they attempted to recruit his Barcelona team-mate Junior Firpo as part of the deal to bring Argentina star Lautaro Martinez to Camp Nou.

The same outlet adds Barcelona president Joan Laporta has made it clear that aside from their new signings, Lionel Messi and Marc-Andre ter Stegen, everyone has their price this summer.

But Alba - who has captained Spain in their first two Euro 2020 fixtures in the absence of Sergio Busquets - is a regular at Barcelona and has a contract at the club until 2024.

Alba has made 385 appearances for Barcelona since joining the club from Valencia in 2012, going on to win five LaLiga titles and a Champions League crown.

But he would join midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu in joining Inter this summer with a move, with the Turkey star completing his free transfer after leaving AC Milan earlier this week following his country's elimination from the Euros.

However, the Italian champions have already had to replace boss Antonio Conte with Simone Inzaghi, while the futures of Achraf Hakimi and Romelu Lukaku particularly uncertain.

The Catalan giants meanwhile have already signed Memphis Depay, Sergio Aguero and Eric Garcia this summer on free transfers, but themselves have huge financial woes to deal with.
