Pellegri: ‘I want to learn from Ibra and Giroud’

New Milan striker Pietro Pellegri wants to learn from Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olivier Giroud and explains why he has no regrets about his move to Monaco.

The Italian striker has joined the Rossoneri on an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy and was unveiled at a press conference on Thursday.

“Even though the experience at Monaco was not lucky, now the future is bright,” the former Genoa striker said.

“Genoa was a home to me, Monaco was a learning experience, but Milan is a dream. The experience at Monaco may not have been positive, but I’d do it again, as it taught me a lot,” he continued.

“I found great facilities here and a familiar environment here.”

Pellegri was drafted in to learn from Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olivier Giroud who are expected to get the starting spot quite frequently up front this season.

However, playing time doesn’t seem to be an issue for the 20-year-old.

“It’s a dream to play with these champions, I’ve joined Milan to learn and I’ve picked the No.64 because it’s the year when my father was born. I want to redeem myself and repay the club’s trust,” the striker said.

“It was great to meet Zlatan. He was my idol growing up and it was amazing to high-five him yesterday.

“Giroud is a player who’s won so much, he is a champion and he can help me, I will study him in training and learn a lot from him. I want to show my quality and determination and I want to stay here.”
