Real Madrid 0-0 AC Milan: Ancelotti's side held to stalemate in friendly

Real Madrid were held to a 0-0 draw against AC Milan in their pre-season friendly on Sunday evening.

The game - played in front of 30,000 spectators - saw Theo Hernandez and Luka Modric hit the woodwork.

While Gareth Bale missed a penalty on his return to action for Real Madrid following a disappointing loan-spell with Tottenham.

Hernandez proved to be dangerous from the get-go, having almost scored in the opening three minutes of the game.

The defender's shot ricocheted off the near post, much to goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois' surprise.

While at the other end of the pitch, Mike Maignan made his debut for AC Milan. His performance was solid, however, he did struggle to play out from the back.

Nevertheless, he did prevent David Alaba from finding the back of the net, while also deflecting Mariano Isco’s effort wide.

Bale also found himself at the centre of conversation after the game, having managed to earn himself a penalty.

However, he was unable to score and was one of a host of players who were substituted at half time.

As a result, the game ended in a goalless draw just five days before the start of the LaLiga season.
