Brazilian Premier League players set to miss weekend game due to FIFA bans

FIFA rules state that players can be ruled out for any club games five days following the international break should the clubs refuse to release them for the matches.

The Brazilian FA pressured FIFA to invoke this rule on all Brazilian players playing in the Premier League.

As a result, Thiago Silva will miss the clash against Aston Villa this weekend.

Villa will be without keeper Emiliano Martinez as he will have to undergo quarantine upon his return from Brazil.

Interestingly, Everton are allowed to select Richarlison for their next game as the club has good relations with the Brazilian FA.

Silva is expected to be back for the Champions League clash.
