Gerard Pique drop retirement hint as he makes Barcelona promise

"I will retire at Barca," Gerard Pique told La Sotana when asked about his plans for the future.

"This could be the last season, yes. I go year after year, so I cannot guarantee that I will be there next season. The day I feel that I can’t help Barca anymore, I will retire," the 34-year-old added even though his contract with the club is effective until 2024.

The centre-back has been at Barcelona since 2008 and helped them collect eight La Liga titles and three Champions League trophies - and that's without mentioning his triumphs with Spain.

Pique is well set for the future, though, as he is already quite a successful entrepreneur. Moreover, there's every chance that at some point in the future, he'll run in an election to become the Barcelona president.
