Trent Alexander-Arnold set to miss Liverpool clash vs Manchester City due to Injury

Jurgen Klopp has cast doubt on Trent Alexander-Arnold being fit to feature in Liverpool's showdown against Manchester City this weekend.

The England right back didn't travel with the Reds squad for their Champions League clash in Porto on Tuesday evening after suffering a groin injury during training.

Liverpool had initially been hopeful the injury wasn't serious but further tests revealed the player is likely to face a spell on the sidelines.

And Klopp believes there is little chance of Alexander-Arnold being available for Sunday's clash against champions Manchester City at Anfield.

Klopp told BT Sport: 'Unfortunately shortly after training he went in early and we did a further assessment.

'He is out for today for sure and it does not look great for the Manchester City game as well.

'He thought it was tight but it is a little bit more than that.

'It's always a question of fresh legs or rhythm we decided this time for rhythm.

Normally you have to rotate but in this situation we don't have to the boys can go again.'
