A-Z on Real Madrid Football Academy Port Harcourt Nigeria

There's no better gift the governor, Nyesom Wike could have given to the youths of Rivers State than this phenomenon, Real Madrid Football Academy. 

The state that had produced great stars like Joseph Yobo, Finidi George, and the "Chief Justice" himself, Adokie Amasiemaka has unassuming passion for football ingrained into their everyday culture. 

As the governor said, "football is no longer a pass time, but a huge business and career path for lots of our youth here. We have been greatly endowed with football talents here, most of our youths with potentials in the past had faded away because there's no platform to develop their footballing skills. 

The real Madrid academy is not just another academy, it is a huge investment by government and people of Rivers State. It is an investment in our children's future."

The minister of Sports, Samuel Dare, during the commissioning said, the Real Madrid Academy pass the 3i's of Sports development: infrastructure, initiative and investment. And hope that in the near future the academy will be churning out great footballers for our national teams and the world at large.

Rivers state signed a franchise and technical partnership agreement with the management of Real Madrid Spain in 2019. And Real Madrid Port Harcourt is one of the two franchises in  Africa. The other one is in Morocco. 

Real Madrid Spain will give both management and technical support to the academy here in Rivers State, but in personnel, equipment and for training methodology. 

The outdoor facilities comprising of a well grassed football pitch and well-constructed swimming pool and even a basketball court. 

The academic blocks which house classrooms, staff rooms, student hostels, ICT rooms, Biology, Physics and Chemistry laboratories, Dining Halls, Medical Clinic and other meticulous provisions provided for in the well thought out structure.

Training and Educational Curriculum

The academy will follow the training methodology just like the Real Madrid Spain. 

"All of our clinics are conducted by coaches of the Real Madrid Foundation with experience in the “Cantera.'. Our clinics combine teamwork with an individual tracking."

"The Real Way", our own training methodology allows a complete analysis of the development of children. 

There will regular exchange of staff and transfer of technical skills to their Nigeria counterpart through internship and mentorship programs

Real Madrid Academy PH, doesn't only offer football developmental training but also run the Nigeria secondary school approved curriculum. The students would have to play and study and will be legible to take Junior and senior secondary secondary certificate examination. 

Real Madrid academy PH gives admission to children between  5 and 17 years of age. 

The academy is primarily built for Rivers state indigenes and 70℅ of the students that will be given admissions must come from the state. This indigenes will also attend the academy FREE of charge after passing the screening exercise and the entry examination. 

30℅ is left for none indigenes as well as foreigners who would pay yearly fees that covers training, accommodation, feeding and medicals.

The Academy is situated at Elekahia Port Harcourt; in the same surroundings with the Yakubu Gowon Stadium Elekahia.
