Cavani has been told to leave Manchester United in January because of Ronaldo.

Gus Poyet, a former Chelsea player, has encouraged Edinson Cavani to leave Manchester United in January after Cristiano Ronaldo's arrival.

Cavani's game time has been limited to just 115 minutes of Premier League football this season as a result of Ronaldo's return to Old Trafford.

Not only did the Portugal captain assume Cavani's place in the team, but he also stole Cavani's number seven shirt.

Despite scoring 17 goals in 32 games for United last season, Cavani appears to be relegated to a supporting role this season.

Poyet has pushed his colleague to leave Old Trafford because the situation there is harming his international career.

He was unlucky since, prior to Ronaldo's arrival, he was the main striker.

"The choice by Juventus and Man City to get involved went terribly against one individual in particular — Cavani."

"Perhaps he should relocate in January." I don't know him from the outside, but if I were him, seeing how things are now, and seeing him not receiving 90 minutes for the national team because he isn't playing - maybe," Poyet told talkSPORT.

For recent World Cup qualifiers against Colombia and Argentina, Cavani was left on the bench.
