"In the summer of 2020 we had a very good offer for Ansu which would have settled the accounts that year," Josep Bartomeu said in his interview with Mundo Deportivo.
Bartomeu was then asked what club made the offer for Ansu Fati and if it was for €150m?
"Yes, it was from an English club," Bartomeu answered. It would have been a direct benefit for the year 20-21 but at Barca the sports project prevails and the economy continues."
An injury to Fati in the early stages of the 2020/21 season has seen the teenager's value drop to €65m.
Still, Barcelona values him highly and intend to insert a €1 billion release clause on his next contract.
