Gerard Pique makes big claim on Vinicius

“Yes, I talked to Vinicius personally before he signed for Madrid,” Barcelona defender Gerard Pique said in his chat with Ibai Llanos via Twitch.

“He told me that he was signing for Barca was done.

“I was in contact with Vini to welcome him to the club and those types of things - he even confirmed that he was going to join, but Madrid arrived and doubled the offer.”

Vinicius Jr. joined Real Madrid in 2018 from Flamengo for €45m. If what Pique is saying true that means Barcelona only valued Vini for €22.5m back then.

The 21-year-old Brazilian has shown so much promise since. He started this season like a man on fire scoring 5 goals and tallying 4 assists in his first 10 games.
