More police to be on duty for United-Liverpool clash amid protest :: Manchester Police

The Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that more police officers will be situated at Old Trafford during Man United’s game against Liverpool.

They said in a statement: “This fixture is steeped in history with a long-standing rivalry and encourage everyone attending to act responsibly. Will be additional police resources in the area to ensure the public and supporters are able to enjoy the event.”

This is probably done amid fears that another huge protest might take place.

It could be like the one which forced the United-Liverpool game to be postponed last season.

The Red Devils are in desperate need of a big win to regain momentum in the Premier League – after having fallen 8 points behind league leaders Chelsea.
