Tuchel on Lukaku and Werner injury: 'We don't rest players because every games are important'

Chelsea defeated malmo 4-0 at home in their third game in the group stage of the UCL competition but the loss of their main two strikers to injury has given something to worry about.

Thomas Tuchel has come in for some criticism after starting a very strong line-up against Malmo.

Injuries to the likes of Lukaku and Werner are pretty big losses with the next 5 games coming in 15 days.

Explaining his decision after the game, the boss said: "We take the games step by step, there is no more important game than the game we play on this day.

"Jorgi (Jorginho) didn't play against Brentford, we went with Ruben (Loftus-Cheek) who was there during the international break.

"The guys on the pitch deserve to start, there are no gifts or resting players because the next game is more important.

"We pick the best line-up in our belief to have the best chance to beat Brentford and then we pick the best line-up on this day to beat whoever arrives in a Champions League match."

While Tuchel's point does make sense, the German will need to figure out a way to win without Chelsea's two most direct attackers in the coming weeks.
