Eric Abidal's wife Hayet has asked to be interviewed by police amid the ongoing investigation of the attack of Kheira Hamraoui.
It has been suggested that the shocking assault on the Paris Saint-Germain women's player was organised by Hayet as revenge for Hamraoui sleeping with Abidal.
Her legal representative said: "Hayet Abidal has nothing to do with the events. She wishes to be interviewed as quickly as possible by investigators or the prosecutor in charge of the case."
Last week, two men dragged former Barcelona midfielder Hamraoui out of her car, punched her and hit her legs in an attempt to do as much damage as possible. PSG women's player Aminata Diallo is also incriminated in the case.
