Ademola Lookman Discusses Nigeria Switch With Super Eagles’ Scout

Leicester City of England winger, Ademola Lookman has stepped up his efforts to get a switch of national team allegiance and don Nigeria’s colours henceforth, as he has held talks over the issue with a scout of the Super Eagles, megasportsarena.com reports.

While the long process for Lookman’s proposed switch of allegiance from England to Nigeria continues, the former Charlton Athletic, Everton and Fulham dazzler, who is on loan from RB Leipzig of Germany to Leicester, is already in discussions over the matter.

This much has been revealed by the chief scout of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Tunde Adelakun, who confirmed that Lookman has decided to switch his international allegiance but added that the youngster will have to wait for a while before getting his Eagles’ debut.

The 24-year-old winger, who helped England win the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2017, is eligible to play for the Super Eagles through his Nigerian parents, but the NFF are yet to officially apply to the global sanctioning body for a nationality switch.

This means the waiting game continues for Lookman, who has scored twice in nine appearances since joining Leicester on loan from Leipzig in August, but the youngster, who has played for England at U19, U20 and U21 levels, has already held informal talks about making the switch.

Adelakun told BBC Sport Africa: “We are aware of Lookman’s desire to play for us and I have spoken to him as well. However, there is a process to it.

“After this process, then comes the consideration and decision of the head coach [Gernot Rohr] on whether or when he deems it fit to get him involved.”
