Barca director provides update on Dembele extension talks, says Ousmane wants to stay

"We have been negotiating with Ousmane Dembele and his agents for months. Dembele wants to stay and I am especially optimistic that this will have a good ending and he will stay with us," Barcelona's director of football Mateu Alemany has said.

"Dembele is excited with Xavi’s arrival. He wants to stay and his agents know that."

As a reminder, Ousmane's contract with Barca expires at the end of the season. He will be free to enter negotiations with other clubs already in January.

This season so far, Dembele has played only one match this term as he is again struggling with injuries.
