“That Xavi starts in the middle of the season is an additional complication," Victor Font said to RAC1 as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.
"It was important to have done it right after the elections [in March] so as not to waste time and the fundamentals were solid.
"I'm very happy because what we diagnosed was necessary for the club to see it as a solution."
Barcelona could've sacked Ronald Koeman before the end of last season when the club lost the opportunity to win La Liga.
Font repeatedly stated that he would hire Xavi immediately of he became Barcelona president.
