Genoa appoint Andriy Shevchenko as new manager

Andriy Shevchenko has confirmed on social media that he will become the new Genoa coach.

Il Grifone sacked Davide Ballardini after their 2-2 draw away at Empoli on Saturday.

Genoa are involved in the race for survival, having collected just nine points 12 games.

They’ve won one match since the start of the season, with six draws and five defeats.

Shevchenko is expected to sign a two-year deal with the Grifone next week.

Shevchenko will make his Serie A debut as a coach on Sunday, November 21, against José Mourinho’s Roma.
