The Scottish club have been left to pick up the pieces after Steven Gerrard's shock decision to join Aston Villa.
Sky Sports says a decision has been made to appoint van Bronckhorst as Gerrard's successor.
The Dutchman spent three seasons as a player at Ibrox before going on to succeed with Arsenal and Barcelona.
Van Bronckhorst also has management clout having won the Eredivisie title with Feyenoord in 2016.
