Injured De Vrij To Miss Napoli Clash

Inter defender Stefan de Vrij hasn’t suffered an adductor strain, but will still miss Sunday’s Serie A match against Napoli, it’s reported.

The Dutch centre-back has returned to Milan after suffering a muscle injury while on international duty.

According to Calciomercato.com, he underwent medical examinations in Milan this morning. The good news for the Nerazzurri is that the defender hasn’t suffered an adductor strain, so he won’t remain on the sidelines for too long.

However, he won’t recover in time to face Napoli when Inter return to the pitch on Sunday.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Dutchman will also miss Inter’s Champions League match against Shakhtar on November 24, while Edin Dzeko could be eligible against Napoli.

The Serie A champions sit seven points behind the Partenopei and their city rivals Milan, currently on top of the table.

Alessandro Bastoni has also returned early from international duty due to physical issues, but he has a chance to recover in time for the match at the Stadio Maradona with Federico Dimarco starting in a three-man back-line.

Andrea Ranocchia remains an option for Simone Inzaghi, should Bastoni fail to recover.
