Interim United boss Carrick on facing former teammate Lukaku

“It feels like a long time ago now since he was here and went to Italy,” Carrick said about Lukaku during the pre-match press conference on Friday.

“He [did] well [in Italy] and had a good start at Chelsea.

“He’s been unfortunate with the injuries. But he came back the other night and was involved [in training]. It will be good to see Rom again.

“Obviously, he’s a terrific footballer, he scores goals pretty much wherever he’s been. It’s pretty obvious what he brings and how dangerous he can be.

“If Rom plays, obviously, we’re well aware of what he brings, and we’ll be ready.”

Romelu Lukaku played for Man United for 2 years, notching 28 league goals for them but his time ended on a sour note.

The big Belgian is just about returning from injury but if he plays, he will be out for revenge against his former team.
