Foot Mercato says Guendouzi joined Olympique Marseille on a season-long loan in the summer as he was surplus to requirements at the Emirates.
Guendouzi's time in north London appears to be coming to an end after he was frozen out of the side by Mikel Arteta as the Ligue 1 outfit inserted an option to buy in the deal.
And Marseille are seemingly in pole position to make the move permanent as the playmaker has revived his career in the south of France.
But the Magpies are trying to 'meddle' with the proposed deal as they are big admirers of the youngster.
Newcastle will have money to spend next summer under new ownership, but could find it difficult to persuade Guendouzi to remain in the Premier League as he 'feels particularly good at Marseille and isn't thinking about a departure'.
