OFFICIAL: Barcelona midfielder Pedri wins prestigious Golden Boy award

Pedri has won the 2021 Golden Boy award, becoming the first Barcelona player since Lionel Messi to do so.

The prestigious award given by Tuttosport is given to the ‘best young player’ in Europe every year.

Reacting to winning the award, Pedri told Tuttosport: “I want to thank Tuttosport for this trophy which makes me so proud. Thanks also to the members of my team and the fans who have always supported me throughout a 2021 which for me has been simply incredible.

“Of course, I want to thank Barcelona, the national side, my family, my friends and everyone who has been with me day-in-day-out without whose help I would not have been able to win the Golden Boy award.”

Pedri enjoyed a remarkable debut season at Barca, making 52 appearances for them and winning the Copa Del Rey award. He also featured for Spain in their Euros campaign, helping them progress to the semi-finals.

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham finished second in the Golden Boy rankings after an impressive campaign in Germany.

Bayern Munich youngster Jamal Musiala completed the top-3 after excelling for the German giants last season.
