Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski will finish 3rd in the 2021 Ballon d’Or standings, according to El Chiringuito journalist Josep Pedrerol.
The Polish forward has reportedly been edged out in the Ballon d’Or vote by Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema – who is now tipped to finished in second place.
Lionel Messi remains the favorite to win his 7th Ballon d’Or in the ceremony which takes place on Monday.
Lewandowski was initially a front-runner for the award after having scored 48 goals in all competitions for Bayern last season.
However, it seems like the voters don’t favor the Bayern striker and are intent on crowning Messi after he helped Argentina win the Copa America this year.
