Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed he withdrew Raphael Varane from Tuesday's draw with Atalanta after the Frenchman hurt his hamstring.
With less than 40 minutes on the clock, the summer signing from Real Madrid was replaced by Mason Greenwood.
And Solskjær did not want to risk Varane suffering a serious injury by keeping him on the pitch.
Speaking after the game, Solskjaer on Varane: "He felt his hamstring.
"You can't take any risks."
