Chelsea defender Chilwell ruled out for rest of the season with knee surgery

As per The Guardian, Ben Chilwell needs an operation on an anterior cruciate ligament injury which he suffered in the Juventus game last month.

Chelsea were monitoring the left-back's status and hoping that he would not need surgery but it is now a must for Chilwell.

This will see the defender being ruled out for the remainder of the season. Chilwell was in the form of his life prior to his injury with three goals and an assist in 6 league appearances, so this is a massive blow for Chelsea.

Marcos Alonso is the only proper left-back in the senior squad now - Chelsea could look into the transfer market in January to sign an emergency cover.
