FIFA: Biennial World Cup would make football £3.3bn richer

FIFA is not giving up on the idea of a biennial World Cup and continues its efforts to convince the members of the organisation.

FIFA's member associations have been told that holding the World Cup every two years would make football £3.3 billion richer over every four-year cycle.

According to Sky Sports, it is estimated that each of FIFA's 211 members would receive an extra £12 million over every four years which they could spend on 'football development projects'.

The idea of a biennial World Cup, spearheaded by former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, has been with staunch opposition from UEFA, leading European football leagues and some well-known players.
