Man United to appoint Richard Arnold as new CEO, announcement imminent

Manchester United are set to unveil Richard Arnold as the new chief executive amid what's been a turbulent season so far, reports Sky Sports.

The 50-year-old will become the first person to be named the CEO at Old Trafford since David Gill resigned in 2013.

The Red Devils are readying an official announcement, which could be made as early as this Monday (December 20).

Arnold will take charge from 2022, effectively replacing Ed Woodward, who has been the executive vice-chairman since 2012.

Sky Sports adds that this new position will make Arnold 'one of the most powerful figures in British sport'.

Meanwhile, Woodward is expected to continue in the role of a consultant after stepping down from his current position.
