Pep refuses to be carried away by Manchester city recent Performance

"There are 54 points to play for," Pep Guardiola told the BBC after Man City's 1-0 win against Brentford when asked about the title race.

"It is not expected to have this distance for eight and nine [points], but Liverpool played one game less. But [there] is 54 points [to play for].

"In December no one is champion. We are going to lose games. I see in my mind, Arsenal, Chelsea, Southampton coming.

"We have a game in London against Arsenal, maybe one of the top teams right now. The best Arsenal in the last four or five years.

"I cannot say more than congratulations to the team [after the Brentford win] but we must focus."

Manchester City defeated Brentford on Wednesday, extending their lead over Chelsea and Liverpool to eight and nine points, respectively.

Speaking after the 1-1 draw against Brighton, Thomas Tuchel conceded that it would be 'stupid to think' the Blues are still in the title race.

Man City face Arsenal at the Emirates on January 1. Liverpool and Chelsea are set to lock horns at Stamford Bridge on January 2.
