Real Madrid's most expensive XI compared to Barcelona's
Barcelona are currently very far away from Real Madrid in the league table. Los Blancos keep their distance from the Catalans when it comes to squad values in the transfer market.
We have checked both teams' most expensive starting XIs based on Transfermarkt's player values.
And it turns out that Madrid's most expensive starting XI costs €40m more than Barcelona's (€530m v €490m).
Madrid's most expensive XI: Courtois; Carvajal, Militao, Alaba, Mendy; Camavinga, Casemiro, Valverde; Asensio, Benzema, Vinicius.
Barca's most expensive XI: Ter Stegen; Dest, Araujo, Garcia, Alba; De Jong, Coutinho, Pedri; Dembele, Depay, Fati.
Note that Transfermarkt gives a higher valuation to youngsters. Hence some veteran players such as Modric and Kroos at Madrid and Pique and Busquets at Barca at Madrid have missed out on their respective team's most expensive starting elevens.
