Former Everton striker and England legend Wayne Rooney could be in line for a return to the club - as manager.
Rooney is being sound out by the Toffees if they sack manager Rafa Benitez.
That is according to The Sun, who state that owner Farhad Moshiri may be running out of patience with Benitez.
The Spaniard is a Moshiri pick, and he badly wants Benitez to succeed, but results this season have been extremely poor.
Rooney is working hard to keep financially troubled Derby County in the Championship at present.
