Why Lionel Messi's hotel in Barcelona is set to be demolished

Lionel Messi's four-star MiM Sitges hotel in Barcelona is set to be demolished in the coming days, according to El Confidencial (h/t GMS).

The hotel has 77 bedrooms and is worth €30m.

The building stands a risk of demolition because the property did comply with the laid down building codes - even before Messi bought it in 2017.

Messi owns other hotels via his Majestic Hotel Group. There's one in Majorca and another in Ibiza.
