#BenchedBusquets hashtag: Xavi responds to Cules' criticism of Busquets

"The campaign against Sergio Busquets was caused by poor results. For me, he is an important player on and off the pitch. He knows he makes mistakes. But for us, he is important because of the way he plays," Xavi has said.

"Busquets is one of the best players in the world in his position. I don't have any doubts about him," he added.

Busquets has been heavily criticised for his Clasico blunder on social media. Barca fans even launched the #BenchedBusquets hashtag, and it reached the Twitter trends. Cules were left unimpressed with the veteran's overall performance too, calling him too slow and lazy.

Busquets is 33. This season, he started all of the games in which he was available.
